Rocket Internet’s Kaymu.pk, a leading C2C and B2C online platform, has promoted Ali Zain Sheikh to Country Manager for its business in Pakistan. Ali Zain was previously Head of Sales for Kaymu and joined the venture in 2014 as an operations and customer experience team lead in Lahore. He succeeds Adam Dawood who is now acting CEO for a TCS venture called Yayvo.
“Kaymu Pakistan has built one of the strongest teams across Kaymu globally, with some of the most dedicated and talented professionals working in the organization. Ali has been a part of the team long enough to have absorbed the values of the company and is well-aligned with the organization’s vision. He has exhibited nothing less than excellence in his tenure as Head of Sellers, seamlessly managing a large team of sellers as well as ensuring customer experience. No doubt, his drive and ambition is exactly what the company needs to move onto even greater heights,” said Niroshan Balasubramaniam, CEO of Kaymu Asia.
When asked about the way forward, Ali Zain said “Our strategy has always been to focus on customer experience and start a new era in company growth. We will increase our seller base, focusing on a broader variety of sellers to bring more competitive pricing and broaden our product base further. We will be launching some new branding and positioning initiatives which will help our consumers reach us and relate to us in a much simpler way. While Kaymu has already established itself as the leading eCommerce platform in Pakistan, enabling over 15,000 sellers across the country, we now need to focus on enhancing our consumer protection as well. A few plans are already in action which we hope will be received well and further strengthen Kaymu’s position as the shopping platform of first choice in terms of safety and convenience.”
The Kaymu team is determined to establish Kaymu.pk as the one-stop shop solution. The team has also been focusing large amount of resources on enabling small home-based workers in far-flung areas by offering online wholesale on the website.
Ali Zain further added, “We brought almost 11 million unique users onto Kaymu.pk last year – that’s almost half of Pakistan’s total broadband subscribers. We are dedicated to multiply the numbers this year and we are not stopping till all of Pakistan comes online for all their online buying and selling needs.”
